1 Headshot/ 10

Release Date 2008

Genre Action, First Person Shooter

Developed by Epic Games

Whats it about?

The plot is a alien race is taking over the galaxy, so your a soldier trying to push them back

The Single Player

While the game does have a loose plot line, its never really enough  to give the game any real semblance of a worthwile or engaging story. So the story mode is just multiplayer with a loose plot, played against really dumb computer controlled bots. The campaign is one of the most boring, frustrating, repetive piece of shit that I have ever played (and beaten). You constantly do the same shit over and over and over again. The charaters say the same one liners, the bots do the same predictable moves, its frustratingly boring...andjust plain sucks balls.

Multiplayer

The Unreal franchise is all about its multiplayer. I remember playing it on the pc years ago and it was a blast. In my opinion though it sucks now. The modes are the same you'd play an any other FPS title. You know what I just didnt like anything about the multiplayer. I maybe played 15 matches and quit it. Its not hard to play and easy as fuck to master. Just run in straight lines and shoot...thats it. Anyway, the maps are ok, some are way to huge and frustrating to navigate when you constantly cant jump over small obstacles or get killed and have to respawn and run your way for 30 seconds back into the battle. Fuck that

Verdict

Terrible graphics, dumb/bland story. Repetitive gameplay, overly used one liners. Easy/bland multiplayer. A chore even while hunting for achivements.

Die Hard Trilogy 1 Playstation 1 review

Release date: 1996

Fox Interactive and Probe Entertainment

Genre: Action

Whats it about?

Diehard Trilogy follows movie hero John McClane loosley through the original trilogy of films

Is it good?

I remember buying this game when I was about 11 years old at Target for about 20 bucks if I remember correctly and I loved it!. The first game on the disc followed the first movie where you hunt terrorists down (and in the game defuse a bomb to move on to the next floor) of Nakatomi Plaza. This game is in classic 3rd person perseptive and is full of an array of weapons ranging from your default pistol to an exploding shotgun. The first game is easilly the best on the disc. The 2nd game follows John's exploits through the 2nd film Die Harder. It is played like an arcade rail shooter where terrorists pop out from behind obstacles, idiot innocents run out into gunfire (and you get punished for shooting them? crazy!), and an array of vehicles that you shoot from. This game is ok but has a steep learning curve and is limited by your lack of lives and no save feature...so if you get far... and die... you start all over again. I remember when I finally beat it.. it was a good time. The final game on the disc follows the 3rd film (it even has a terrible voice acting immatation job of Samuel L. Jacksons wise crackin character) and is the worst. This one is a driving game. You drive a taxi and have to travel through various city locations running over checkmarks (bombs) that give you extra time. This one is extremely hard to get the hang of and even harder to actually beat. Sadly, I never beat this fucking game. So for the 20 buck price tag 15 years ago this game was great... 2 outta the 3 games were fucking cool and you get to play as badass John McClane.....who says the popular one liners from the film throughout the games.

Whats the game about?

Dead Rising follows reporter Frank West as he travels to a town full of zombies.. then he visits the mall.

Is it good?

There are more then a few problems with Dead Rising which at first bugged me so bad that I hated the game. For one the janitor (who sends you on missions) constanty calls your phone and if you dont answer...he'll keep calling till you do, and if you hang up on his ass he'll call you back pissed off. Secondly the font on the screen (which you have to use alot) is extremely small and hard to see. And lastly, the save system is terrible. You can only save in certain locations and if you happen to die, you can chose either to go back to your last save or start the whole fucking game over at the title screen...which got annoying.

Those problems aside the game grew on me and now its one of my favorites. There was alot attention to the story, it plays out as a classic horror film with shady characters, back stabbings, shootouts, crazy doctors and sceaming characters that make stupid decisions. The gameplay takes a bit of time to get used to but isnt too bad. The game offers you a lot of options at killing zombies from lawn mowers to flower pots and everything in between. So if you can get past the flaws of this game then I'm sure you'll find something entertaining, weather its going through the story or simply wasting some time killing zombies.
